Hasheem Thabeet has reportedly signed a contract with a G-League team.
He was making the rounds during September’s training camps, attempting to make an NBA comeback, but ultimately, he’ll have to settle for the G-League. Maybe he’ll receive a call up at some point, but he’s irrelevant in fantasy hoops.
  • Hasheem Thabeet reportedly worked out for the Warriors on Friday.
With both Willie Cauley-Stein and Kevon Looney dinged up, it’s possible that the Warriors may look to add a center to help eat up preseason minutes. However, Thabeet, who has worked out for multiple teams this summer, is not on the fantasy radar.
  • Hasheem Thabeet will work out for the Knicks this week.
This will be his second workout with the Knicks. Thabeet has worked out for several other teams, but New York and Milwaukee will be the only teams he worked out for twice. The fit doesn’t make much sense, as they already have Taj Gibson backing up Mitchell Robinson.
  • Hasheem Thabeet will play in 5-on-5 scrimmages again with the Knicks next week and is also scheduled to work out for a second time with Milwaukee the following week.
Thabeet is looking to earn an invite to training camp on an Exhibit 10 deal. He has a better chance in Milwaukee than New York. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 draft has averaged 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 10.5 minutes per game throughout his career.
  • Hasheem Thabeet has reportedly been going through “informal scrimmages” with some Knicks players in New York.
The former No. 2 overall selection has been making the rounds as he attempts an NBA comeback, and he’s expected to receive a formal workout with the Knicks in the next few days. The Knicks currently have 19 players under contract, so they could add one more guy for training camp, although Thabeet would still be a long-shot for the regular-season roster. The Knicks already have Taj Gibson and Bobby Portis, so they don’t necessarily need a guy like Thabeet.
  • Hasheem Thabeet will work out for the Bucks this week.
Thabeet has worked out for a few teams over the past few months, but hasn’t been able to latch on. He is reportedly in great shape and has spent the last year or so working on his offensive game. The Bucks have a few roster spots open for training camp.
  • Hasheem Thabeet is hoping to play in the NBA next season.
Thabeet was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 draft (one spot ahead of James Harden), but never made an impact, averaging just 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 10.5 minutes per game over the course of his career. The 32-year old is looking to make one last run at the league. “One thing that might be shocking to people is the past few months and few years that I haven’t really been playing, I’ve been working on my shot,” Thabeet said. “Just to be able to score away from the basket, rather than just posting up and shooting hook shots.”
  • Hasheem Thabeet is working out in front of personnel from the Rockets, Raptors and Pistons in Charlotte during All-Star weekend, reports Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Thabeet, who last played professionally in Japan, is attempting to play in the NBA for the first time since the 2013/14 season. It’s possible he could fill a role off the bench as a screener and rim-protector, but the 32-year-old is light years away from the fantasy radar.
  • The Blazers acquired Hasheem Thabeet as part of the Marcus Camby trade.
It’s Thabeet’s third team in three seasons, a sign that he doesn’t “get it.” However, he is 7'3/263, has elite shot-blocking ability and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 draft. We suspect Joel Przybilla will start at center for the Blazers, but that’s not a long-term solution. Thabeet should get a chance, making him someone to watch in deeper formats.
  • Hasheem Thabeet and Jonny Flynn are expected to be available for Tuesday’s game against the Bucks.
All trades completed last Thursday are now official. Thabeet’s exact role is unclear, but we do know that he doesn’t have much competition at the center spot. Joel Przybilla and Kurt Thomas have been manning the position since Marcus Camby was dealt.
