Billy King said he expects to sign second-round picks Derrick Byars and Herbert Hill soon.
It was believed that Byars or Hill might play overseas, but King said he expected both to be in training camp when it begins on Oct. 2. Neither player is expected to have fantasy value, but both should get some run with the Sixers this season.

The Sixers signed rookies Herbert Hill and Derrick Byars on Tuesday.
Hill is suddenly an important piece of the Sixers’ puzzle after they traded backup center Steven Hunter to the Nuggets on Monday. Starter Samuel Dalembert’s foot is in a cast and it’s possible Hill could play many more minutes this season than the team imagined. Byars will back up the shooting guard and small forward position, but neither player is expected to offer fantasy value this season.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie forward Herbert Hill has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and will require surgery, the club announced Saturday.
Hill will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, where Dr. James Andrews is expected to perform the procedure on Tuesday. Consider him out indefinitely and this news gives Jason Smith and Calvin Booth some potential, especially if Samuel Dalembert continues to struggle in his recovery from a stress fracture in his foot.
  • DAL Center #24
Samuel Dalembert’s left foot has been put back into a walking boot as he tries to recover from a stress fracture that was diagnosed in August.
Mo Cheeks said that Dalembert will not play in the two remaining preseason games, tomorrow night in New York and Thursday night in New Jersey, and will not practice until Saturday at the earliest. The Sixers open the season Oct. 31 in Toronto.Without Dalembert, the Sixers will look to rookies Jason Smith and Herbert Hill, and veteran Calvin Booth to play some power forward and center. Dalembert’s injury is officially to the point that fantasy owners should try to find another option to play center if possible. If he can’t play on opening night, Smith is expected to start.

The Jazz drafted forward Herbert Hill out of Providence College with the 55th pick on Thursday.
Providence products have had nice success in the NBA (Austin Croshere, Ryan Gomes) and Hill can play as he was the Big East Conference scoring champion in his senior season. We don’t know where he fits in with the Jazz, but if Andrei Kirilenko is moved, don’t be surprised to see Hill take over Paul Millsap’s current role next season, as Millsap becomes a possible starter.
  • UTA Center #44
The Sixers have traded forward Kyrylo Fesenko to the Jazz for Herbert Hill.
Details on the deal are still sketchy, but it appears the Jazz have added another big man to their roster. It’s unknown if he’ll even make it to the NBA, as he could decide to stay in Europe.

Jazz second-round pick Herbert Hill has reportedly been dealt to the Sixers for forward Kyrylo Fesenko.
Details on the deal are sketchy, but the Desert News is reporting the trade. Neither player will have fantasy value next season.
  • Power Forward #14
Jason Smith started at center for the second game in a row Saturday, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds in his best preseason performance.
Coach Maurice Cheeks said that Smith and C Herbert Hill have been two of the team’s most pleasant surprises. Smith could have some value if Samuel Dalembert continues to be plagued by injuries - he’s not worth draft consideration though.

76ers rookie Herbert Hill had an MRI taken on his left knee on Wednesday, which showed some wear and tear and swelling. The team has decided to shut him down for 5-to-7 days and then take another MRI.
Hill had surgery on October 30th to repair torn cartilage. He has been practicing regularly the last few weeks, but hasn’t played in a game and offers no fantasy value.
  • PHI Center
76ers rookie Herbert Hill, rehabbing from knee surgery, could participate in a full practice as soon as this week.
“We haven’t had a whole lot of time to go up and down the court, to see where he is in those areas,” said coach Mo Cheeks. “You can tell a little more when you’re going up and down and banging a little bit.” It sounds like Hill will return soon, but he won’t have any fantasy value.
