O’Brien last played with the Jazz on a 10-day contract and is attempting to earn a camp invite with the Spurs or another NBA team. Even if the 24-year-old is able to play his way to a camp invite, he can be ignored by fantasy owners.

O’Brien will play with the Salt Lake City Stars and won’t have any fantasy value in 2016-17 as long as he’s playing in the D-League.

O’Brien was never going to make the final roster.

The Bucks have signed O’Brien to a camp deal, so there’s no guarantee he’ll make the team’s final roster. Even if the 24-year-old is able to survive final cuts, he won’t have any fantasy value in 2016-17.

“My defense from San Diego State has definitely carried over,” O’Brien told NBA.com on Tuesday. “I think I’ve shown the ability to make some plays, get in the paint, make passes and make open shots. I think I’ve shown a little bit of what I can do.” O’Brien will be at the Jazz’s training camp, but he’s a long shot to make the final regular-season roster.

O’Brien will join the Jazz on a 3-year deal with just $75k guaranteed. Those figures would make the 23-year-old a long shot to make Utah’s final roster and he can be ignored in all fantasy leagues at this point.

He was with the Jazz for Summer League, averaging 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 13.0 minutes. The 23-year-old forward is unlikely to make the team.

O’Brien was only on a partially guaranteed contract, so he was never really that likely to make the team. He’s likely bound for the D-League.

He only played four minutes in what was an absolute blowout, so he isn’t going to be a big part of the rotation. Even if he is kept beyond his 10-day contract, he is not an option in fantasy leagues.

Due to injuries to Derrick Favors (back) and Trevor Booker (concussion), the Jazz desperately needed some frontcourt depth. O’Brien has been playing for the Idaho Stampede in the D-League, but he will likely just provide some emergency depth off the bench.
