The Spanish team Leonessa Brescia is pursuing SF J.R. Giddens, who has played for the Celtics and Knicks.
Giddens has played in Poland and Greece for the past few seasons, but he also played in 17 D-League games in 2010-11 and may have aspirations to rejoin an NBA team.

J.R. Giddens has signed with Centrale del Latte Brescia.
Giddens was inexplicably a first-round pick by the Celtics in 2008, but he played in just parts of two seasons with the Celtics and Knicks before washing out of the NBA.

Brian Scalabrine, Tony Allen and J.R. Giddens all have expiring contracts for the Celtics and could be used in a 3-for-1 deal this summer.
The Celtics desperately want to find a veteran back up for Paul Pierce, and appear to have the pieces in place to make it happen.

Marquis Daniels was unable to play the second half on Tuesday due to a stomach ailment.
J.R. Giddens replaced him in the second half and had seven points and 13 rebounds while playing the last 24 minutes.

The Celtics officially signed rookie J.R. Giddens on Tuesday.
Giddens was taken with the 30th pick in the draft and averaged 16 points and almost nine boards a game at New Mexico. However, he’ll struggle to see much playing time with the Celtics this season.

Unable to quickly sign a contract with the team, Celtics’ rookie J.R. Giddens decided to fly home to Oklahoma City until an agreement can be reached.
No word of whether or not this could be problematic for the team in the future, but it’s interesting how many NBA folks are running off to Oklahoma City lately.

The Celtics and rookie J.R. Giddens have agreed on a two-year deal with an option for another two years.
Giddens, selected 30th in this year’s draft, averaged 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in his senior year at New Mexico. He could play spot minutes but shouldn’t be much help in fantasy leagues. The Celtics’ second-round pick, guard Bill Walker, remains unsigned.
  • NYK Shooting Guard
The Celtics took shooting guard J.R. Giddens out of New Mexico with the 30th pick in the draft.
He’s athletic and has a ton of talent, but there are questions about his maturity and attitude. Certainly worth a flier with the final pick of the first round.
  • CHI Shooting Guard #44
Celtics coach Doc Rivers said the team’s decision to draft defensive-minded guard J.R. Giddens did not reflect negative feelings about restricted free agent Tony Allen.
“Tony Allen is very high on our get list,” Rivers said. Questions remain about the health of Allen’s knee, but it sounds like the Celtics are serious about re-signing him. Neither Allen nor Giddens should have much fantasy value next season.

Celtics rookie J.R. Giddens will be sent to the Utah Flash in the D-League, according to team president Danny Ainge.
Second-round pick Bill Walker will remain with the Celtics, but has no fantasy value.
