Wolves assign G Malcom Lee to the D-League.
Lee will play for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, where he’ll actually be in the rotation.
  • Shooting Guard #11
Malcolm Lee is expected to be sent to the D-League in the near future.
The rookie needs consistent minutes after knee surgery and he’s not going to get them with the Timberwolves right now.
  • MIL Point Guard #13
Luke Ridnour was helped from the floor by trainers after a serious looking ankle sprain in the third quarter of Monday’s game against the Kings and he will not return.
J.J. Barea (thigh) is targeting Wednesday’s game for a return, and we’ll get a real sense for how bad his injury is now that Ridnour looks sure to miss some time. We’re calling Barea a must-add player in all formats even before we get the scoop on how long Ridnour will be out. His upside under Rick Adelman’s offense will be tremendous, and Malcolm Lee is the next name owners will want to look into, too. It’s a good thing David Kahn drafted all those point guards.

Luke Ridnour (ankle) left the arena on crutches after Monday’s loss to the Kings.
We have yet to hear a positive report about Ridnour’s ankle, and we don’t think we’re going to get one tonight. Rid’s owners will want to try to buy time and wait for the next definitive report, but in a dog-eat-dog fantasy playoff world anything goes as it looks like he’s going to miss at least ‘some’ time. J.J. Barea (targeting Wednesday, thigh) is a must-add player despite his obvious risks, and Malcolm Lee (six points, one assist, 18 minutes) is worth monitoring.
  • Shooting Guard #11
Malcolm Lee scored six points on 2-of-4 shooting with one steal and one assist in 18 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Lee could become a busy man if J.J. Barea’s thigh injury is indeed serious, as Luke Ridnour was assisted off the court with a serious looking ankle injury -- leaving Lee as the next man up. We’d still wait for more definitive news, however, before recommending an add in most formats.
  • DAL Point Guard #5
J.J. Barea left Thursday’s game after taking a shot to the lip and after receiving eight stitches he is set to return after halftime.
As long as Barea’s situation doesn’t head down the path that Tony Allen took, he should be okay. So far that is the case.

Malcolm Lee (illness) did not play in Sunday’s loss to the Warriors.
Lee’s sickness forced J.J. Barea to play all 48 minutes. His status for Thursday’s season finale is unknown.
  • Shooting Guard #11
Malcolm Lee (illness) returned to action on Thursay, playing 20 minutes on his way to two points, two rebounds, and two assists.
Lee hasn’t done anything to show that he is capable of producing for an NBA team anytime soon, but we’ll keep an open mind as the rookie enters his second year.
  • Shooting Guard #11
The Timberwolves are expected to recall Malcolm Lee from the D-League this weekend.
Rick Adelman said that Lee will join the team for insurance with J.J. Barea nursing a sprained ankle.
  • Shooting Guard #11
Timberwolves recalled G Malcolm Lee from the D-League.
Lee will serve as depth with J.J. Barea dealing with a sprained ankle and it would be a surprise to see him get into any game action while he’s with the club.
