Maurice Evans’ availability for tonight’s game will be assessed after his condition is reviewed this morning.
Evans suffered a head injury in the last game, and also received a “little” hairline fracture to a rib when he was fouled hard by Carlos Boozer.
  • WAS Small Forward
The Pistons traded guard Maurice Evans to the Lakers for draftee Cheick Samb.
The deal gets Evans out of Detroit, where he wasn’t happy with his playing time, as well as frees up space for the Pistons to re-sign Ben Wallace without crossing the luxury-tax threshold. It’s starting to sound like Wallace may re-sign with the Pistons.
  • WAS Small Forward
Mo Evans scored a season-high 18 points in Thursday’s blowout win over the Heat, hitting 7-of-13 shots (including two threes) with one steal in 23 minutes.
It’s nice to see Evans stretch his legs out during the twilight of his career like this. Chances are, he won’t be seeing many lines like this in his future. Morris Almond scored five points with five steals, Shelvin Mack scored six points with seven assists, James Singleton put up four points, eight boards, and three assists, and Nene added 15 points with seven boards, three assists, and two blocks to round out the bench effort.
  • WAS Small Forward
Mo Evans started the second half for the Wizards (over Trevor Booker) and had 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting in 20 minutes.
Randy Wittman was mad at his starters and benched three of them to start the second half. Unless Evans starts doing this on a nightly basis, he belongs on waivers in your fantasy league.
  • DEN Small Forward #22
The Spurs have been in contact with the agents of at least four free agent SFs -- Caron Butler, Bostjan Nachbar, Josh Howard and Maurice Evans.
Butler is an unlikely target, as the Spurs don’t have much cap space and he would reportedly prefer to play for the Bulls. San Antonio could always get under the salary cap (and have their full mid-level exception) by waiving Jefferson via amnesty, but they’d have to pay a healthy RJ $30 million just to walk away.

The Knicks will “zero in on” Maurice Evans after losing Shawne Williams to the Nets.
New York is offering the full $2.5 million exception for the veteran, who appears to be at the top of the list now that Jamal Crawford and Shawne Williams have been scratched from the list. If he does sign, Evans will get some solid burn considering how shallow the bench is for the Knicks.
  • MIL Shooting Guard
The Knicks will look at Michael Redd and Troy Murphy after losing out on Shawne Williams.
As we previously noted, New York also has an interest in Mo Evans. The Knicks need to find a scorer for the second unit, so it should be interesting to see what the plan is now that Williams, who the team wanted to re-sign, has decided to head to the Nets.
  • WAS Small Forward
Mo Evans (knee) was in uniform for the Wizards on Sunday but did not play.
Evans hasn’t been practicing lately and isn’t going to offer fantasy value even when he’s in shape.
  • WAS Small Forward
Free agent Mo Evans has agreed to re-sign with the Wizards for the veteran’s minimum.
Once a high flyer, age and knee injuries have kept him planted on the bench the past few seasons. There will be no late-career revival here for Evans.
  • WAS Small Forward
Mo Evans called a players only meeting for the 0-6 Wizards on Thursday.
“The sense of entitlement that’s here sometimes, I’ve never seen before,” he said. John Wall said that his team was playing selfish on Thursday, and it’s clear that there are some problems both on and off the court for Washington right now. We’ll see if it has any impact in the next game on Friday against the Knicks.
