Sources say the Knicks could have had Denver swingman Rodney White, but they were not willing to part with Michael Doleac.
GM Scott Layden would much prefer to part with Othella Harrington rather than Doleac to make a trade for a backup shooting guard. The team has also looked into Portland’s Derek Anderson and Toronto’s Morris Peterson. Doleac is suddently attractive because he’s in the final year of a $1.6 million contract, and has added muscle. Until the Knicks get Antonio McDyess back, however, Doleac is a part of their rotation.
