The Heat have some interest in acquiring Donyell Marshall from Toronto, but would have to give up Michael Doleac.
There’s a chemistry concern, as at least two Heat players have expressed that trading Doleac would be a mistake. A one-for-one deal also doesn’t help the Heat create the roster spot they need to bring Alonzo Mourning on board, so look for Wang Zhi-Zhi or Wesley Person to be included in a trade, or waived/bought out.
  • Sources say the Knicks could have had Denver swingman Rodney White, but they were not willing to part with Michael Doleac.
GM Scott Layden would much prefer to part with Othella Harrington rather than Doleac to make a trade for a backup shooting guard. The team has also looked into Portland’s Derek Anderson and Toronto’s Morris Peterson. Doleac is suddently attractive because he’s in the final year of a $1.6 million contract, and has added muscle. Until the Knicks get Antonio McDyess back, however, Doleac is a part of their rotation.
  • The Knicks have been hesitant to part with Michael Doleac, but might be more willing now that Antonio McDyess has returned.
Toronto is more willing to part with Morris Peterson after their trade with Chicago, and could use a big man like Doleac or Othella Harrington. The Nuggets are also willing to part with Rodney White for Doleac, but the Knicks like Peterson more than White, and prefer to part with Harrington more than Doleac.
  • The Trail Blazers are showing interest in center Michael Doleac.
The Raptors and Nuggets are also believed to interested in the reserve center. The Knicks would prefer to move Othella Harrington, but Doleac may be expendable once Antonio McDyess proves he’s healthy.
  • The Hawks plan to waive Michael Doleac and sign Mamadou N’Diaye to a 10-day contract today.
There are teams interested in Doleac but the Hawks apparently don’t want to trade him because they don’t want to take something in return, preferring the inexpensive N’Diaye.
  • The Celtics will try to sign Michael Doleac if he clears waivers.
They’d probably waive Lindsey Hunter to create a roster spot for him. Whether Doleac is interested in Boston is uncertain. If he isn’t claimed off waivers by Denver, he might simply return to New York.
  • Michael Doleac started in place of Shaquille O’Neal (calf) tonight and finished with eight points and five boards.
He has no value as long as Shaq is around.
  • Michael Doleac returned to action on Sunday and scored six points in 15 minutes.
Doleac missed a game for personal reasons.
  • Michael Doleac scored a season-high 16 points tonight against the Bulls.
It’s just the third time this season he’s scored in double-figures. No fantasy value.
  • Michael Doleac missed tonight’s game for personal reasons.
The Heat didn’t miss him too much and you probably didn’t either.
