Allen Iverson helped form the modern NBA where it is today, both culturally and stylistically. Iverson, 43, is a legend around the league, and he’s got plenty of stories from an era in NBA history that is just about to enter its peak for nostalgic interest.

To that end, Iverson appeared in a long interview with Complex that published on Thursday that touched on several topics. One of the most interesting stories Iverson told was about the first time he ever met Michael Jordan, and a subsequent interaction following that sounds about right for that era of MJ.

Via Complex:

The first time I ever talked to him was playing in the Rookie Game. I’ll never forget cause he said, “What’s up you little bitch?” I’ll never forget it. I looked up and I was like, “Alright, man.”

I remember one time … I went to a Charlotte game, and [Jordan] was telling me that I told him how much he meant to me and how much I rocked with him. And he was like, “Man you don’t rock with me like that because you wouldn’t have crossed me like that [if you did].”

Iverson went on to talk about how he was starstruck the moment he walked onto the court for the first time against Jordan. Iverson played against Jordan in just his second career professional game on Nov. 2, 1996. He had 15 points on four-of-13 shooting.

Jordan finished with 27 points, five assists, and four steals while going 11-of-20 from the field.
