Earlier on Sunday, Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry announced that the team was shutting down Anthony Davis for the rest of the season as he battled injuries to his left knee and shoulder. Gentry said Davis would have surgery, but he didn’t specify which of the two injuries it would address.
Turns out, it’s both of them, according to Justin Verrier of ESPN.com.
Anthony Davis has a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a left knee injury. He will have surgeries to correct both.

There’s no word on what the knee injury is, but a torn labrum will keep Davis out several months. It’s highly unlikely at this point that he plays for Team USA in the Summer Olympics in Brazil.
