This is a big blow to a team that had been playing better than expected but with little margin for error.
Cleveland forward Anderson Varejao is out indefinitely with a broken wrist, the team announced. The injury happened in the second half Friday night when Bucks forward Drew Gooden tried to slap the ball and hit it.
There is no timeline for his return as of now, but this is a non-displaced fracture and he is expected to return this season.
Varejao had been playing at near an All-Star level, scoring 10.8 points per game, shooting 51.4 percent, plus grabbing 11.5 boards. He’s also been good on the defensive end of the floor for the Cavs.
There were a number of teams interested in trading for Varejao reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo. However, the Cavaliers are not interested in moving him, regardless of the injury, adds Brian Windhosrt of ESPN.
