As we told you yesterday, police had been called out recently to the Denver Nuggets training facility after an on-court scuffle involving J.R. Smith turned violent.
Reports were that the incident involved Smith choking an unidentified player, but by the time police arrived everything had calmed and most of the people around had left. The District Attorney decided not to charge Smith.
Now police have re-opened the investigation, according to the Denver Post.
The person Smith allegedly attacked and choked is Damien Lolar, a former West Texas A&M player who was for a time part of the D-League’s Colorado 14ers, according to a ShamSports.com tweet.
As we said before, whether Smith did this or not, whether or not charges are filed, it does help grease his skids out of town. The Nuggets were reportedly actively trying to trade him prior to this incident.
