The deadline to sign a player going into his fourth year to a rookie extension is November 2. Most of the players who figure to sign them or have serious discussions before then are high-profile names: Andre Drummond, Harrison Barnes, Bradley Beal. The Magic’s Evan Fournier said Saturday that he would love to get a long-term deal before that deadline:

Fournier had a solid first season in Orlando after two underwhelming years in Denver. He shot 37.8 percent from three-point range and played a career-high 28.6 minutes per game last season. Still, it’s unlikely he gets a deal done before the deadline unless he’s willing to take a low number in return for some long-term security. Fournier is exactly the kind of player who teams want to see test the market in restricted free agency. If he has a breakout year, he can get paid then, but he hasn’t shown enough yet to make him definitely worth a big commitment from the Magic now.
