Ricky Rubio has missed the Timberwolves’ last 12 games with a sprained left ankle, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be back anytime soon, according to Wolves coach Flip Saunders:

Flip confirms no Ricky until Jan. Pek still a good week or more away from doing stuff. Shabazz (ankle) and Mo (back) didn’t practice today.

Since Rubio’s injury, the Wolves have struggled to find a consistent replacement at point guard. Zach LaVine isn’t really a point guard, and Mo Williams isn’t nearly the defender or passer Rubio is. Minnesota wasn’t expected to win much this season regardless, but it would be helpful if their young talent like LaVine and Andrew Wiggins had the opportunity to grow with Rubio as the team builds for the future.
