Lawrence Frank hasn’t been wanted lately.
First, the Pistons fired him. Then, Jason Kidd used him and humiliated him. Lionel Hollins, hired by the Nets to replace Kidd, had no place for him, either.
But Doc Rivers wanted Frank, and now the Clippers have him.

Frank worked – by writing daily reports after his demotion – only one year of a reported six-year, $6 million contract with Brooklyn. His buyout wasn’t necessarily cheap.
In Los Angeles, he’ll join a very accomplished staff that already includes Mike Woodson and Sam Cassell. Prior to coaching Detroit, Frank effectively coordinated the Celtics’ defense under Rivers. This partnership has worked well in the past.
The Clippers are stocking up, on the court and on the bench. They won’t necessarily win a title next season, but they definitely have the tools – from top to bottom – to do it.
