It’s something you always hate to see in basketball, especially in a series as important as this one.

With seven minutes remaining in the third quarter of Game 3 of the Miami/Boston series, Rajon Rondo poked the ball away from Dwyane Wade. As the ball went out of bounds, Wade attempted to keep Rondo from getting the ball, lost his balance, wrapped his arm around Rondo and both players went to the floor. Rondo definitely took the worst of the impact, and appeared to suffer a serious injury to his left arm.

Before getting injured, Rondo had recorded two points, 10 assists, and five turnovers. For the series, Rondo has averaged 14 points and 9.5 assists per game on 38.5% shooting. We will keep you updated on the injury as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Rondo suffered what the Celtics are calling a dislocated left elbow. Celtics trainers reportedly “popped the elbow back into place,” and Rondo returned to the game in the fourth quarter.

Which, if you saw the injury, is ridiculous. He played essentially one handed but has picked up a rebound and an assist. This is tremendous heart from the point guard.
