The Dream Team — the famed 1992 U.S. hoops team of NBA players who cruised to the gold medal in the Barcelona Olympics and inspired a generation of European players — didn’t face much of a challenge against the international competition of the day.
Their toughest game was an intrasquad scrimmage in Monte Carlo that is the thing of legend.
On one team it was Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird, Karl Malone and Patrick Ewing on one team (with Christian Laettner as their reserve), while the other team had Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, Chris Mullin, and David Robinson. That’s a lot of Hall of Famers on one court.
Michael Jordan later called it the greatest game he ever played in. You can see some of the grainy footage of it above.
