South Carolina combo guard P.J. Dozier looks like a project.

But that’s not stopping him from turning pro.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

After leading South Carolina to an improbable run to the Final Four, sophomore guard P.J. Dozier is signing with an agent and staying in the 2017 NBA draft, sources told The Vertical.

Dozier likely goes in the second round, though going undrafted is likelier than climbing into the first round.

The 6-foot-6 Dozier has intriguing physical skills as a point guard. He can dig into opponents defensively and has the size to see over smaller defenders. He’s also a strong finisher at the rim.

But his ball-handling and passing skills aren’t advanced enough, particularly for a point guard. A flawed jumper doesn’t make anything easier.

If he doesn’t improve as a distributor and must play shooting guard, he’s rather unexceptional. Still, at either guard spot, defense could be his ticket to the next level.
