Andrew Harrison — a second round pick traded to Memphis on draft night in 2015 — impressed last season in Iowa of the D-League, averaging 18.5 points per game, shooting 36.5 percent from three, and dishing out 4.9 assists per night.
Memphis was watching, and it is a team looking to add shooting and guard depth, so they have signed the physical point guard, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical at Yahoo Sports.Harrison has agreed to a three-year, $3 million guaranteed deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told The Vertical. The deal includes a partial guarantee on the third season, sources said.
Harrison made dramatic strides for the Iowa Energy of the D-League last season and impressed the Grizzlies with his steadily developing game.Harrison — who was the point guard on Karl-Anthony Towns Kentucky squad in college — is a 6'6", strong point guard who knows how to use that size to bull his way to the rim, plus be tough on defense. His handles, defense, and decision making improved enough that the Grizzlies are willing to bring him in, and at that price it’s not much of a risk.
