In a move that will surprise absolutely no one, ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reports that the Sixers are waiving veteran forward Gerald Wallace, whom they acquired from the Warriors this summer for Jason Thompson.

Wallace was in the final year of a contract that would pay him $10.1 million. The Sixers still owe him that money, meaning the two highest-paid players on their payroll are Wallace and JaVale McGee ($12 million), neither of whom are on their team.
It remains to be seen whether Wallace will get picked up by another team. He’s a good veteran presence in the locker room, but he hasn’t been a useful NBA rotation player in about four years.
