Money does buy loyalty.
The Warriors signed James Michael McAdoo for training camp, giving him a $35,000 guarantee even though they waived him before the regular season. Golden State assigned him to its affiliate in the D-League – where players don’t earn that much in a full season – and McAdoo played well for the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Now, faced with multiple NBA offers, McAdoo chose the team that paid him this fall.

Announcement: ProBasketballTalk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $125,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Monday’s NBA games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $15,000. Starts at 7:30pm ET on Monday. Here’s the FanDuel link.
Not long ago, McAdoo was touted as a potential No. 1 overall draft pick. He left North Carolina after last season and went undrafted, but the forward still has the athleticism that intrigued scouts. He’s just 22, so it’s not too late for him to develop his skill set.
McAdoo is receiving only a 10-day contract for a reason, but there’s still a chance the Warriors help turn him into a useful NBA player.
