The Kings drafted UC Santa Barbara SG Orlando Johnson with the No. 36 pick on Thursday, but immediately sent the pick to the Pacers in exchange for cash.
Johnson averaged 19.7 points in a featured offensive role last year, making 45.1 percent of his FGs and 42.7 percent of his 3-pointers. He has a solid build but probably needs to refine his ball-handling to thrive at the NBA level.

Pacers have assigned Miles Plumlee and Orlando Johnson to the D-League for two games.
The two rookies will get some time in the D-League before rejoining the Pacers after those two games.

The Pacers assigned rookie G Orlando Johnson to the D-League.
Despite being praised by coach Frank Vogel for his development thus far, Johnson has played just three minutes this season. He’ll head to the D-League to get some consistent minutes and won’t impact the fantasy landscape at all this season.

Gerald Green has been moved to the bench and won’t be part of the Pacers’ rotation for the time being, beat writer Mike Wells reports.
Green played just six minutes in the first half Monday before being benched for the entire second half. Wells reports rookie Orlando Johnson will assume Green’s minutes, which he did in the second half of Monday’s win over Memphis. Green has been a total bust this season, shooting just 35 percent from the field and 29 percent from beyond the arc. It’s nice to see Johnson get a shot at some minutes, but whatever impact he has now will be severely limited once Danny Granger returns in February.

Gerald Green (illness) will not play against the Jazz on Saturday.
Lance Stephenson and Orlando Johnson should pick up some extra minutes. Green hasn’t been able to do much and isn’t living up to the contract he signed in the offseason.

Frank Vogel is “impressed with the development” of rookies Orlando Johnson and Miles Plumlee.
It’s nice to hear the coach praising his rookies, but it’s not going to result in any fantasy fallout.

Pacers recall G Orlando Johnson from the D-League.
He’ll head back to the end of the bench.
  • NBA Small Forward #14
Frank Vogel benched Gerald Green for the entire second half of Monday’s win over the Grizzlies.
Green played six minutes, all of which came in the first half. Rookie Orlando Johnson got Green’s minutes in the second half, and after Green has been encouraged to look for his shot, he’s missed open opportunities repeatedly and is shooting just 35 percent for the season, including 29 percent on 3-pointers.

Gerald Green admitted he has to adjust his game to get back in the rotation.
Rookie Orlando Johnson is taking his place on a short-term basis, and the demotion is designed to spark Green to play better. “I’ve been settling for a lot of 3’s,” Green said. “I have to figure out a way to get my offense through the (team’s) offense.”

Pacers assign Miles Plumlee and Orlando Johnson to the D-League.
This has become a regular routine for both players, and each will play for the Mad Ants on Thursday.
