He signed a one-year, partially-guaranteed contract and secured the Pistons’ final roster spot. While Chris Webber remains unsigned, there’s still a decent chance the team could move Nazr Mohammed, Lindsey Hunter or Flip Murray to make room for Webber.

He can play the 3 or 4 and should eventually give the Pistons some more diversity, if he sticks around. But we’re all for having more guys named ‘Sammy’ in the NBA.

In six preseason games (no starts), Mejia averaged 1.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 9.0 minutes per game.

Acker has a shot at remaining on the Pistons roster next season, but we don’t expect to hear much from Brown -- he only made the team because Sammy Mejia (Detroit’s second-round draft pick last season) sprained an ankle.
