Louisiana sophomore TE Neal Johnson had one catch for 18 yards in Saturday’s 20-18 win over South Alabama.
18 yards was all Johnson needed (6'4"/233) to lead the Ragin’ Cajuns. It was raining in Mobile, leaving the conditions not ideal to move the ball through the air. Louisiana made up for it on the ground, gaining 225 total yards to a big divisional victory. Louisiana-Lafayette will host Appalachian State on October 12.

Louisiana sophomore TE Neal Johnson (discipline) will not travel with the team for Saturday’s game against Iowa State.
Ragin’ Cajuns HC Billy Napier indicated that this disciplinary measure is “part of a long-term plan” to help get Johnson back into the flow in good standing after he apparently made a past misstep or two. No word as to what, exactly, the 6-foot-4, 233-pounder might have done to land in Napier’s doghouse. This past season, Johnson saw the field in 12 games while logging an 11-97-2 receiving line in that space. Louisiana is out-and-out loaded with offensive talent and the loss of Johnson doesn’t figure to sting too much this weekend. Just when Johnson might be able to return to the playing fold is not immediately clear.
