Jaguars placed James O’Shaughnessy (ankle) on injured reserve.
O’Shaughnessy will miss at least the next three weeks with a high ankle sprain. With a 7-for-72 line this season on nine targets, O’Shaughnessy qualified as a bright spot for the Jaguars offense--underlining both how barren the landscape is at the tight end position and how disappointing the Urban Meyer era has been so far. He will likely be replaced by TE Luke Farrell. The Jaguars signed CB Nevin Lawson in a corresponding move.

  • FA Defensive Back
    Raiders released CB Nevin Lawson.
The Raiders are dealing with a handful of injuries at other positions, forcing them to abandon the cornerback depth that Lawson offers. The team hopes to bring him back on their practice squad following the release. Lawson just completed his two-game PED suspension and is now eligible to return if the Raiders choose to call him up from the practice squad or if he signs with a new team.

  • FA Defensive Back
Raiders CB Nevin Lawson was suspended two games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.
He’ll be suspended without pay for the first two games of the regular season. Lawson notched a career-high 61 tackles with Las Vegas last year and was promptly re-signed to a one-year deal this offseason. He’ll presumably replace Lamarcus Joyner in the secondary the moment the former is eligible to return in Week 3.

  • FA Defensive Back
Raiders re-signed CB Nevin Lawson to a one-year contract.
Lawson played both the slot and outside for the Raiders last year. He had a career-high 61 tackles but went his seventh straight season without an interception. Lawson gives the Raiders a veteran to fall back on with Lamarcus Joyner gone. The signing shouldn’t prevent the Raiders from adding another corner through the draft or free agency.

  • FA Defensive Back
Free agent CB Nevin Lawson will visit the Raiders on Wednesday.
A starter since 2015, Lawson was released by the Lions on the eve of free agency. He is capable of playing both inside and out, though he is not particularly effective at either spot. He would be an experienced depth addition for the Raiders’ thin cornerback corps. It is one group they have yet to address with their profligate spending this offseason.
  • FA Defensive Back
NFL suspended Raiders CB Nevin Lawson four games for violating the league’s PEDs policy.
Oakland signed Lawson to a one-year deal in March after his release from the Lions. Lawson has experience outside and in the slot and was likely competing for a starting job in a wide-open cornerback group for the Raiders. Lamarcus Joyner is expected to handle nickel duties in the slot. Gareon Conley, Nick Nelson, Curtis Riley, and Daryl Worley are others battling for snaps in this defensive backfield.
  • FA Defensive Back
Raiders activate CB Nevin Lawson Monday.
Lawson has served his four-game suspension and is eligible to suit up in Week 7 following the Raiders’ Week 6 bye. He’ll provide CB depth to a secondary that could certainly use it.
  • FA Defensive Back
NFL suspended CB Nevin Lawson one game.
Lawson “used his helmet as a weapon” in the Raiders’ Week 17 game against Denver. It’s his second suspension of the season after missing four games for violating the league’s PEDs policy. Lawson will serve his ban to open up the 2020 season. It’s not a good start to the offseason for the impending free agent.
  • FA Defensive Back
Raiders signed CB Nevin Lawson, formerly of the Lions, to a one-year, $3.05 million contract.
Lawson is no better than an average NFL corner, but he was a three-year starter in Detroit and can play both outside and in the slot. Given Oakland’s thin cornerback corps, this is a solid, low-cost addition.
  • FA Defensive Back
Raiders signed CB Nevin Lawson to a one-year, $3.29 million contract extension.
The six-year vet logged 24 tackles over 11 games including five starts for the Raiders in 2019. Lawson saw scarce usage early in the year but was afforded more opportunities down the stretch following Gareon Conley’s trade to Houston. The 28-year-old will serve a one-game suspension to begin 2020 after using his helmet “as a weapon” in Oakland’s Week 17 loss to Denver.
