    Falcons waived DT Antwan Lake.
Lake, who recorded 3.5 sacks as an oft-used reserve in ’05, became expendable following the recent signing of veteran Grady Jackson.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Saints signed DT Kendrick Clancy to a three-year, $5.2 million contract.
A nice pickup for the Saints, who have struggled against the run. Clancy, 28, is a quality run-stopping tackle who should contribute behind Hollis Thomas. The addition could be bad news for either Antwan Lake or Rodney Leisle.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Saints DT Kendrick Clancy has won the starting job over Hollis Thomas.
Clancy will be asked to occupy blockers and guard against the run, his specialty. Thomas has been overweight since training camp opened. Antwan Lake will start next to Clancy while Brian Young recovers from foot surgery.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Saints DT Brian Young underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee Wednesday and will be sidelined indefinitely.
Young is New Orleans’ most active interior down lineman. Antwan Lake is a solid backup, but isn’t likely to be as effective in pass rushing situations.

The Browns tried out free agent DL Antwan Lake on Monday.
Lake is also scheduled to visit the Bills on Tuesday. The 30-year-old would play defensive tackle for Buffalo, and defensive end in Cleveland’s 3-4.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Free agent DT Antwan Lake will work out for the Bills on Tuesday.
Lake has worked out for a number of teams this season already. The Bills are likely just updating their list of “emergency” players.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Free agent defensive linemen Antwan Lake, Orpheus Roye and Paul Spicer will visit the Falcons on Tuesday.
Lake, 30, tried out for the Browns, Bills and Patriots already this season and left without a contract. Roye is 36 and well past his prime. Spicer, 34, knows coach Mike Smith from their time together in Jacksonville and has 28.5 career sacks.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Free agent DL Antwan Lake will visit the Patriots later today.
Lake, 30, would likely play tackle and end in New England’s flexible scheme. Lake’s agent says this is his client’s second visit to the Patriots in the last few weeks.
  • NO Defensive Lineman
Saints DT Antwan Lake is expected to at least one week with an injured groin.
Lake injured the groin in Sunday’s opener against the Bucs. Depth is becoming a concern, so the team will look to add a defensive tackle this week.
