Emmons

The three starters have been sidelined by various lingering injuries throughout the preseason. Their health is a key to the Giants defense regaining respectability.

Carlos Emmons (leg), Nick Greisen (hamstring) and Barrett Green (ankle/thigh) will be replaced by Reggie Torber, Quincy Monk and Wes Mallard. Coach Tom Coughlin is getting especially tired of Emmons’ lingering pain.

Other Giants on the mend: LB Wes Mallard, safety Shaun Williams, offensive linemen Rich Seubert and Scott Peters, defensive tackle William Joseph, and cornerback Will Allen. Linebacker Barrett Green has a slight groin pull and will be limited.

Emmons is the most likely of the Eagles high profile free agents to return next season.

Barrett Green continues to struggle with injuries. Reggie Torbor may start on the strong-side. This makes Emmons worth owning in the short term in deeper IDP leagues.

LaVar Arrington is on the strong-side, where he can rush the passer more. Emmons has always been a lackluster IDP option, but this should help his value.

New York’s projected starting weak-side linebacker has a pinched nerve but remains confident he’ll be ready for the season. Brandon Short would be the favorite to play in Emmons’ stead.

The 32-year-old has struggled with injuries in camp and may lose his starting job on the weak side to former Panther Brandon Short.

The Giants defense can’t play much worse this week. All the Redskins offensive players are strong plays than usual this week.

The Giants are a little thin at linebacker right now and would love to get Emmons back on the field.
