The Bears are spinning it that rookie fifth-round pick Craig Krynzel has simply been impressive. But it’s more likely that Hutchinson has been disappointing.

Maybe Bill Parcells was right. If Craig Krenzel were to go down, Jonanthan Quinn, Medicine Woman, would take over.

With Craig Krenzel likely out a month, Hutchinson will get a shot the rest of the year. He’s trying out for the Bears backup job next year, but we’re not optimistic.

The Cowboys are sending people overseas this week to scout him. Only one season removed from being “The QB of the future,” Hutchinson faces an uphill climb to make the team.

Hutchinson, who has had an uneven season overseas, went 20-for-27 for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns in a Rhein Fire victory. We doubt it will save Hutchinson’s job with the Cowboys.

Jeff George will sadly stay on the bench.

After the date, the Cowboys get roster exemptions for sending the QB bust to NFL Europe.

Hutchinson struggled overseason and is expected to be released, even if the Cowboys don’t sign a veteran backup.

Here’s one reason Hutchinson won’t become a NFL QB. “No offense to Vinny Testaverde, but he’s 40 years old,” Hutchinson said. “And no offense to Drew Henson, but that’s me two years ago. To me, that’s just a slap in the face. That’s disappointing. The proper way to handle things was to let me go at the end of the [2003] season.”

Grossman may be out most of the season, so it’s not a temporary gig. Rookie Kyle Orton should challenge Hutchinson and is a legit contender to win the job. We’ll downgrade all Bears offensive players.
