  • SF Cornerback #26
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Arizona State CB Chase Lucas will visit the Browns this week.
Lucas (5'11/180) was a respected leader and captain at ASU. He’s a heady player that plays with good technique. But Lucas’ skin-and-bones frame and lack of play strength make his NFL projection tricky. In the pros, he’ll struggle with bigger receivers and be targeted in the run game. Lucas projects as a late-rounder or UDFA, per Garafolo’s colleague Lance Zierlein.

Arizona State senior CB Chase Lucas has been ruled out for the rest of Friday night’s game against Stanford after suffering an undisclosed injury in the first half.
Lucas (6'0/185) was hit hard in the first half, left the game, and did not return. This is a tough blow for the fifth-year senior as he returned for the extra season. He already missed the Colorado game after suffering a concussion the week prior against BYU. Hopefully, this is nothing serious for Lucas, as the Colorado game was the first he had missed in his college career.

Arizona State junior CB Chase Lucas has been ruled out for the remainder of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl due to an undisclosed injury.
Lucas (6'0/170) was injured at some point in the first half, though no specifics as to the exact nature of his health concern have come to light as of yet. The junior cornerback has a draft decision to make in the days ahead. While undersized, he plays bigger than his measurements and is more than willing to take on contact, both going up to contest passes as well as in the run game. Lucas has logged six total picks during his time with the Sun Devils. Should he declare, a mid-round selection could very much be in play for the spring.

Arizona State signed four-star RB Chase Lucas.
Washington, Arizona and Oregon State (among others) showed interest in Lucas before he signed his letter of intent with the Sun Devils. The 6-foot, 170-pounder’s a native of Chandler, Arizona, and offers “a nice blend of size, speed and ball skills when projecting as a college all-purpose back,” per ESPN 300’s scouting report. He could also contribute on kick returns. While they’re keen on his do-everything abilities, they “do not see load-back attributes.” Adding weight with the Sun Devils could help him to weather a higher number of carries. Lucas is one of four ESPN 300 names Arizona State secured on National Signing Day. All four play on the offensive side of the ball.

Arizona State DB coach Tony White believes junior CB Chase Lucas has Day 1 or Day 2 potential.
This is scorching hot take based on last year’s performance. Lucas (6'0/175) was young and played against some decent talent on the outside, but he did allow 8.4 yards on his 63 pass-coverage targets according to Pro Football Focus. That’s was the equivalent of D’Eriq King or K.J. Costello passing last year. With more development, Lucas could be an NFL Draft prospect, but it’s too soon to be calling for Day 2 love.
