Instead of keeping an unhappy player, the Giants gave him the trade he wanted.

Lawrence, dealt to the Bengals last night, officially passed his physical and signed the contract extension. It’s unclear exactly how much money this adds to his guaranteed tally — that’s probably the real question on how good of a deal it is — but the extension is a bit lower than his reported $30 million per season ask. Lawrence is now under contract for the next three seasons with the Bengals.
  • CIN Defensive Lineman #97
Earlier reports indicated the Giants were “asking for a lot” in exchange for the standout pass rusher, something that now seems to bear weight after the team landed the No. 10 overall pick in the coming draft. The Giants now hold the No. 5 and No. 10 overall picks when festivities kick off in less than a week. The Bengals land their replacement for Trey Hendrickson after watching as he departed for Baltimore when the Maxx Crosby trade fell apart. It’s a weird replacement on paper as Lawrence wasn’t a premium pass-rusher last year, but it should shore up a weak run defense.
  • FA Cornerback
Dehner believes that McCoy’s 2025 missed season due to ACL tear wouldn’t cause the Bengals to take McCoy off their board, which is a real point in his favor at this spot given how medical opinions vary. McCoy has clear-cut athleticism and traits to be a top-end corner, but the lack of a 2025 season is going to make him feel like a little bit of a gamble at No. 10 overall. Unfortunately, that’s just this draft; pretty much everyone is a bit of a gamble and there are very few sure-fire top-10 pick-quality players.
  • Sample was a fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2021 and has appeared in 61 games since joining the team. Playing primarily as a pass-rusher, Sample has totaled seven sacks in his career and 66 pressures, per PFF. He’ll likely serve in a similar situational role with the Niners this upcoming season.
  • SF Defensive End #96
The details of Sample’s one-year deal have not been announced yet. The 26-year-old pass rusher has notched two sacks in each of his last three seasons. He did not play in 2024. He generated 12 quarterback pressures last year and will compete for a backup role in San Francisco.
  • NYG Center #62
Patrick is an 11-year vet who has started 65 games in his career. He’s a versatile lineman who can play anywhere along the interior and started 25 games with the Bears and Saints from 2023 to 2024. He appeared in just six games for the Bengals last season due to an injury, making one start. Patrick played on just 23 offensive snaps all of last season. His ability to lineup at various positions should make him a solid depth signing for the Giants.
  • CIN Safety #29
Dugger was a full-time starter for years in New England before falling out of favor under new head coach Mike Vrabel, starting four of seven games before the Patriots traded him to the Steelers. Now the 30-year-old safety is on his way to Cincinnati, where he’ll presumably start once again. Dugger had 59 total tackles, five passes defended and two interceptions in 16 games (13 starts) in 2025.
  • CIN Quarterback #16
Elder millenial legend Flacco will enter his age-41 season as Joe Burrow’s backup. It appears that a market did not appear for his services as a starter. Given how often Burrow has been hurt and the acumen he displayed in “simply throwing the ball in Ja’Marr Chase’s general direction,” it’s as good a landing spot as a backup as any for Flacco.
  • DEN Safety #26
The former fifth-round pick spent the past three seasons in Cincinnati. He didn’t play a single snap on defense until last year, when he logged 64 defensive snaps. Anderson has seen over 700 special teams snaps in the last two years alone. That will be his path to a roster spot in Denver.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Taylor-Britt has worked under DC Lou Anarumo before in Cincinnati. Entering his age-27 season, Taylor-Britt proved capable of combustible moments with the Bengals despite some flashes of great play. He’s a fine depth signing behind Charvarius Ward, who has a concussion history that can’t be ignored at this point.
