The Seahawks are disappointed with last year’s third-round pick, QB David Greene.
Seattle made a big investment to groom Greene into a backup role. Now they might have to add a veteran. “I don’t think it’s been an easy transition for David,” coach Mike Holmgren said.
  • IND Quarterback
Seahawks signed third-round QB David Greene.
Terms were not available. Greene was a heady, winning QB at Georgia. He will be the team’s third quarterback this season, but certainly has the right coach to develop him into a solid pro.
  • FA Quarterback #9
Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace will not be utilized at other skill positions this season.
The team had hoped QB David Greene would have a solid preseason, thus allowing them to capitalize on Wallace’s athleticism at other skill positions. Unfortunately, Mike Holmgren doesn’t feel Greene has shown enough this preseason.
  • FA Defensive Back #24
Packers DB Jarrett Bush had two interceptions on Saturday night.
Both came off Seahawks QB David Greene. Bush would have had a third, but it bounced off his chest. Bush is competing with Patrick Dendy for the third cornerback spot.
  • IND Quarterback
Free agent QB David Greene, who worked out for Dallas last Friday, has also scheduled visits with Tennessee and New England.
Undrafted rookie Matt Gutierrez, who could probably make it through waivers to the practice squad, is the Patriots’ third QB. The Titans have just two QBs.
  • IND Quarterback
Seattle GM Tim Ruskell says the team could use Seneca Wallace in more roles if David Greene earns Mike Holmgren’s confidence in the preseason.
Wallace could play wideout and special teams if Holmgren felt comfortable with Greene taking over as his top backup. However, Greene has never had a strong preseason and would likely need to take a big step this time around.
  • IND Quarterback
Patriots signed QB David Greene and S Ray Ventrone to their practice squad.
Rookie OL Clint Oldenburg was released from the squad. Ventrone was last with the Jets’ practice squad. Greene was Seattle’s third-round pick in 2005.
  • IND Quarterback
The Seahawks have not seen enough from David Greene this preseason to consider moving Seneca Wallace to wide receiver.
He threw three interceptions against the Packers last weekend and coach Mike Holmgren called out the former third-round pick for having accuracy issues. Greene has shown next to nothing in his three years as a pro.
  • FA Running Back
Jaguars RB Alvin Pearman was traded to the Seahawks for an undisclosed draft pick.
Pearman could end up being the Seahawks’ third-down back and helping in the return game. David Greene will be released to make room for Pearman and the Seahawks will turn to the waivers for QB help.
  • IND Quarterback
The Seahawks are expected to cut QB David Greene to make space for newly-acquired Alvin Pearman.
The Seahawks had hoped Greene would step up this preseaon and claim the back-up QB job, but he didn’t.
