Falcons selected EDGE DeAngelo Malone with the No. 82 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
WKU’s all-time sack and TFL leader, Malone (6’3/243) is a two-time C-USA Player of the Year. He also backed up his tape with strong testing, highlighted by a 4.56 40-yard dash (97th percentile), 35.5-inch vertical (87th), and a 9-foot-11 broad jump (81st) for a very strong 9.06 overall relative athletic score. A lean frame helps him slip into gaps and be a disruptor in the backfield, while a flexible and lightning-fast twitch gives Malone an advantage running the loop. While very effective scraping down the line in pursuit, he has more difficulty taking on down-blocks due to his lack of bulk. He showed out in the Senior Bowl as well, earning the American Team’s Defensive MVP Award. A seasoned, instinctive player who needs to add strength to endure the rigors of the NFL, Malone is well suited for rotational passing down work. He is another good addition for a Falcons squad in desperate need of pass-rush help.
