Broncos selected North Dakota State EDGE Derrek Tuszka with the No. 254 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Tuszka (6'4/251) was a three-year starting defensive end at North Dakota State who was a first-team All-American as a redshirt senior. He compiled 13.5 sacks and 19.0 TFLs, plus deflected five passes, during that highly productive season. The Broncos edge group is already pretty stacked, but Tuszka has some juice that should translate to special teams if he can’t earn defensive snaps. At the NFL Combine, he led the class in the three cone (6.87) and ran the forty in 4.79 seconds.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein wrote that North Dakota State DE Derrek Tuszka may have to prove to teams that he can play 3-4 OLB at the next level.
Tuszka (6'4/251) ran the 40 in 4.79 seconds and reached 24 reps in the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine, but his on-field drill work may have a greater impact on his draft prospects. “His skilled hands and secondary effort are traits that will help his cause but Tuszka may need to prove he can handle a transition to 3-4 outside linebacker during individual workouts to expand the number of teams/schemes that might consider him,” Zierlein wrote. Tuszka, who racked up 48 total tackles (19 for loss, 13.5 sacks) and five pass breakups last season for the national champion Bison, projects to be an undrafted free agent this April.
