Earl Cochran has entered the mix to start at left defensive end with Anthony Weaver for the Texans.
Cochran, a 27-year-old former undrafted free agent, offers more as a pass rusher. No matter who wins, Houston will likely use a rotation on that side.

Texans DE Earl Cochran left Sunday’s game with an undisclosed injury.
Cochran crumbled to the ground and looked to be in a good deal of pain, but he eventually walked off the field on his own. Trainers were tending to his left leg.

Texans placed DL Earl Cochran on injured reserve with a case of turf toe, ending his season.
Cochran showed some promise as a situational pass rusher from both the end and tackle positions, recording two sacks in eight games. He is a restricted free agent in 2009 and figures to be rewarded with a low tender.

The Texans extended restricted free agent tenders to WR David Anderson, TE Joel Dreessen, OT Rashad Butler, and DE Earl Cochran.
Anderson spent time as both the No. 3 and No. 4 receiver last season, but he’s going to have to bypass Andre’ Davis and hold off Jacoby Jones to solidify a consistent role in the offense.

    Texans released DL Earl Cochran.
He received a $1.01 million tender in February, but the Texans withdrew the offer after signing Antonio Smith. Cochran is still rehabilitating a late-season turf toe injury, and the team is interested in re-signing him once he’s healthy.
