Alabama redshirt freshman G Emil Ekiyor (knee) was dressed and on the field for Wednesday’s practice.
Ekiyor (6'3/327) is currently making his way back from a knee injury sustained in the team’s Week 1 win over Duke. That injury kept him from playing against New Mexico State this past weekend. While Ekiyor was at least dressed out and present during Wednesday’s practice, AL.com’s Michael Casagrande passes along that he was not working with either the first or second group of linemen during the open media window. Alabama plays South Carolina on Saturday. Should Ekiyor be healthy enough to play in that contest, he figures to serve as a depth/reserve cog.
  • Alabama redshirt freshman G Emil Ekiyor (knee) took part in practice on Tuesday.
Ekiyor (6'3/327) has been dealing with a knee injury initially sustained in the Tide’s Week 1 win over Duke. He sat out against New Mexico State this past weekend while continuing his rehab. The redshirt freshman serves as a depth cog when healthy.
  • Alabama redshirt freshman G Emil Ekiyor (knee) will undergo an MRI.
Ekiyor (6'3/327) was injured in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over Duke and required assistance heading off to the locker room. Crimson Tide HC Nick Saban said that the redshirt freshman reserve lineman could end up missing a “week or two,” but indicated that he did not believe Ekiyor’s injury to be a serious one.
  • Alabama redshirt freshman G Emil Ekiyor left Saturday’s game vs. Duke in the second half with a knee injury.
Following the game Alabama HC Nick Saban didn’t sound too concerned about Ekiyor (6'3/327), saying that the redshirt freshman could miss “a week or two.” Ekiyor provides additional depth up front for the Crimson Tide, and they have enough bodies to account for his absence if he does have to miss some game time.
  • Four-star 2018 G Emil Ekiyor was impressed by his visit to Stanford.
Stanford has yet to extend an offer to Ekiyor, but he believes he will receive one in the coming months. "[OL coach Mike Bloomgren] said that I’m his guy and he really likes me and that I’m one of the few guys in 2018 they’ve been recruiting right now,” Ekiyor explained. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder could potentially visit USC and UCLA later this summer, with a camp at Florida also in play.
  • Alabama signed four-star 2018 G Emil Ekiyor.
Ekiyor (6'4/315) initially committed to Alabama near the end of October and his recruitment from that point on settled down, leading to a signing of his NLI with the Tide on Wednesday. He’s a strong finisher on blocks, but still has work to do in pass protection. On the 247Sports composite, Ekiyor checks in at No. 101 overall.
