Auburn junior defensive backs Christian Tutt and Jamien Sherwood are expected to sit out Friday’s Citrus Bowl matchup with Northwestern.
Neither Tutt (5'11/192) nor Sherwood (6'2/220) has taken part in the Tigers’ first three bowl week practices, and according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz the expectation is that Sherwood will turn pro. As of Tuesday night, it was unknown what Tutt’s decision would be regarding the NFL. With those two sitting out, Auburn will need to account for the loss of two of its best defenders. Sherwood ranks third on the team in total tackles (65), while also tallying 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks, three pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and two fumble recoveries. Tutt, who has also returned three punts for 30 yards, has 31 total tackles, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry and one fumble recovery.

Rivals recruiting analysts Rob Cassidy and Woody Wommack singled out uncommitted four-star 2018 S Jamien Sherwood as a standout performer from the Adidas East Coast Invitational.
“A recently minted four-star prospect, Sherwood has a great frame and muscle that fills it out,” note Cassidy and Wommack. They believe that the 6-foot-2, 190-pound native of Jensen Beach, Florida, will likely stay in-state when all is said and done during the 2018 cycle. He has listed Miami, Florida and Florida State as three programs which have intrigued him in the early stages of his recruitment.

Uncommitted four-star 2018 S Jamien Sherwood indicated that Tennessee could be a sleeper candidate for his pledge.
Sherwood lists his top three programs as Miami (FL), Florida State and Florida. While the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is keen on those in-state schools, three SEC programs are also piquing his interest beyond Florida, those being Tennessee, LSU and Alabama. The latter two programs have yet to extend offers, though. This past weekend, Rivals analysts Rob Cassidy and Woody Wommack pointed to Sherwood as one of the best performers at the Adidas East Coast Invitational.

Rivals recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy predicts that four-star 2018 S Jamien Sherwood will commit to Auburn.
While Sherwood (6'2/190) once looked like he might end up committing to Miami, those winds might have shifted. Cassidy writes that Auburn “has made a strong play in recent weeks” and believes that "[t]he Tigers have a real chance of stealing the safety.” During the offseason camp circuit, Cassidy and fellow analyst Woody Wommack noted that Sherwood “has a great frame and muscle that fills it out.”

Auburn signed four-star 2018 S Jamien Sherwood in December.
Sherwood was also an early enroll to the school, which could help him see the field early for the Tigers. The four-star safety was a long-time commit to the Tigers; committing in June of 2017. Reports indicate the 6-foot-2, 207-pound safety can make plays in the run game, but that he has the speed to also help in coverage. He could be a special teams contributor in 2018 that also gets a chance to play in the backfield during the fall as well.
