The Chargers put in a request to interview Saints assistant GM Jeff Ireland for their vacant general manager position, according to Matthew Paras of the The Times-Picayune.
Ireland was up for the Bears GM job back in 2022 but, obviously, did not get the opportunity. Ireland has previously served as the general manager for the Miami Dolphins, but was fired in 2013 after five seasons. He’s given credit for building up this current Saints roster. In eight drafts, he’s been instrumental in drafting Alvin Kamara, Marshon Lattimore, Chris Olave, Ryan Ramczyk and Michael Thomas, among others.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Bears have requested an interview with Saints assistant general manager Jeff Ireland for the team’s open GM position.
The Bears are casting the widest net possible for their open head coaching and general manager jobs. A Bill Parcels disciple from way back, Ireland’s tenure as Dolphins general manager ended with fans flying “Fire Ireland” banners of the team’s stadium in 2011. He was fired in 2013 after five seasons as Miami’s GM. Ireland is well known for his abominable handling of a pre-draft interview with Dez Bryant in April 2010.
