He only would’ve cost $620K to keep, but is coming off a torn ACL. The 26-year-old offers little defensive value and may not resurface before camp.

Chauncey Washington is locked in as Jacksonville’s third RB behind Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. The Jags are going with only two QBs.

Both were 2006 draft picks who’ve done little in the pros. Spicer wants a pay raise because he’s in the last year of his contract and has been the Jags’ only reliable end for the past two seasons. Pettway and Patrick Chukwurah were brought in for tryouts Tuesday with Cullen Jenkins out for the season with a torn pectorals muscle. Because of his size, Pettway is more of a pass rusher as opposed to a run stopper.

Pettway, a deep reserve and special teamer, finished the year with four stops on defense. He’s eligible for restricted free agency in the offseason and will certainly not be tendered.
