Dolphins selected UMass OT Larnel Coleman with the No. 231 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Coleman (6'6/307) started for three seasons at UMass, playing right tackle in 2018 before moving over to the blindside in 2019. Coleman was awarded second-team All-Independent honors by Phil Steele. Although not the heaviest tackle, Coleman brings all the athletic and physical tools required of a Day 3 project. He posted a good 8.58 RAS through his pro day numbers. Coleman’s technique can get a bit out of sorts, particularly with respect to his hand placement when tracking targets in space, but he plays with admirable effort and has the “got get ‘em” mentality to warrant wanting to invest in his physical tools. That said, Coleman has no clear calling card, be that exceptional technique, finesse, or power, and will likely require a couple of years on the practice squad to become a viable player.
