Saints signed undrafted Arkansas Pine-Bluff T Mark Evans.
Evans will get $240,000 in guarantees, a sign he’ll have a real shot to crack the Saints’ roster. Evans (6’2/303) went un-recruited upon graduation from CE King High School in Houston, Texas. Despite his lack of prep billing, Evans epitomizes the bully ball ethos. In the run game, he looks more like a bowling ball, rumbling through to create a lane. However, his pass sets are less effective. He is uncomfortable with keeping defenders at arm’s length due to his own deficiency in that area. There’s a reason defenders try to get into the chest of blockers, as Evans is often left in the dust. The successor to Terron Armstead is not at all similar to the last Arkansas Pine Bluff OL to be drafted. He will need conditioning and flexibility training to see consistent reps in the NFL.
