The Broncos will allow tackles Matt Lepsis and last year’s first-round pick, George Foster, to battle for the starting left tackle spot.
It’s a worry that two players that are so inexperience will be protecting Jake Plummer’s blindside.

Broncos re-signed tackle Matt Lepsis to a four-year contract extension, although he’ll probably become a free agent after next season.
The deal will save Denver $800,000 against the cap this year, but Lepsis will likely test free agency because of a huge cap hit next season.

The Broncos are working with left tackle Matt Lepsis on a contract extension.
Lepsis struggled initially in his move to the left side, but improved throughout the season. The Broncos have been very active slashing cap numbers and should be an active spender in free agency.

Broncos LT Matt Lepsis (ACL surgery) has begun performing position drills.
“It felt good,” Lepsis said. “No pain or anything.” He says he might line up against defensive linemen next week rather than wait until July minicamps. Lepsis’ positive progress from the injury is good news for Jay Cutler.

Broncos LT Matt Lepsis has made a full recovery from his torn ACL.
Lepsis played into the third quarter of Denver’s third preseason game and wound up being a full participant for nearly all of training camp. Jay Cutler and the entire Broncos offense should benefit during the season.

Broncos T Matt Lepsis is strongly considering retirement.
Lepsis is only 33. It wasn’t his best season, but he’s a quality left tackle, and those are very hard to find. Look for the Mike Shanahan to attempt to convince Lepsis to reconsider.

Broncos LT Matt Lepsis announced his retirement from football.
“It is time for me to move on,” he said. “I am completely sure this is the right thing to do.” Lepsis was beginning to decline at age 33, but this is a big blow to Denver’s offensive line. The Broncos drafted Ryan Harris in the 2007 third round, but he got hurt and has no experience. Lepsis, a former undrafted free agent, played 11 seasons in the NFL. He never made a Pro Bowl.

    Broncos re-signed T Matt Lepsis to a four-year contract.
This deal was expected, but is a huge relief to the Denver offense. Lepsis has improved steadily since moving from the right side.

Broncos T Matt Lepsis’ contract for the Broncos is for $25 million over four years, including $9 million guaranteed in 2006.
The move actually saves Denver $1 million in cap room. This is a proverbial good deal for both sides. Lepsis would have done well on the open market, but it’s tough to say he’d do better than this if no CBA is reached.
