    Bengals waived TE Matt Sherry.
Sherry was a surprise draft pick out of Villanova last year and spent his rookie season on injured reserve. Teams won’t rush to claim him on waivers.
  • CIN Tight End
    Bengals re-signed TE Matt Sherry.
The Bengals tried to give up on Sherry when they waived him in June, but they’ll need him now for depth. He still won’t solve any problems on offense.
  • CIN Tight End
    Bengals waived/injured TE Matt Sherry.
The Bengals can’t keep their tight ends healthy. Rookie Chase Coffman will be joined by blockers Daniel Coats and J.P. Foschi. Coffman’s long-term outlook is good, but this isn’t a unit that will have fantasy value in 2009.
  • CIN Tight End
Bengals signed sixth-round TE Matt Sherry to a four-year contract.
Sherry showed some explosiveness in college and caught 37 passes as a senior, but did it at low-level Villanova. Perhaps he’ll develop into a poor man’s Ben Utecht, but we’d bet against Sherry having a long career.
  • CIN Tight End
Bengals placed TE Matt Sherry (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.
With Sherry and Nate Lawrie gone, the Bengals will go with only Ben Utecht and Reggie Kelly at tight end. Sherry was a sixth-round pick in April.
  • CIN Tight End
Bengals selected Villanova TE Matt Sherry with the No. 207 overall pick in the draft.
Sherry led the Wildcats with 37 catches for 461 yards and five TDs as a senior. Making the Bengals’ roster might be an uphill battle for the small-school product, with Ben Utecht, Reggie Kelly, and Daniel Coats out in front.
  • CIN Tight End
Bengals opted not to extend an offer to restricted free agent TE Matt Sherry.
Sherry, who spend the 2009 season on injured reserve, will become an unrestricted free agent. He’ll try to latch on as a camp body this summer.
