Michigan State redshirt senior TE Matt Sokol accepted an invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Sokol (6'6/255) will be busy in December and January. He’ll be facing off against Oregon in the Redbox Bowl, and then he’ll also be playing in the East-West Shrine Game. He had a disappointing season for the Spartans as a receiver, but he’s viewed as a quality blocker and should get a chance to show his receiving skills at both events.

Michigan State redshirt senior TE Matt Sokol accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.
Sokol (6'6/255) had a disappointing year for the Spartans; catching just seven passes with one touchdown and missing three games with injuries for the Spartans. The season before he had 21 catches, however, and he’s a quality blocker as well. He’ll certainly be one of the more heavily-scouted tight ends at the event.

247Sports’ Jeremy Warnemuende writes that Michigan State redshirt sophomore TE Matt Sokol is “by far the most experienced of the (tight end) bunch.”
Warnemuende fully expects Sokol (6'6/248) to serve as the team’s No. 1 tight end for the coming season, with Noah Davis slotting in behind him on the depth chart. During the past campaign, the redshirt sophomore caught two passes for 26 yards. Rotoworld’s Thor Nystrom likes him as a sleeper option at the position for fantasy purposes, ranking him as the No. 39 tight end in all the land.
