Louisiana redshirt senior DB Michael Jacquet (groin) is back this week after missing the team’s previous game against South Alabama, per HC Billy Napier.
Jacquet (6'2/201) is one of Louisiana’s best DBs, so getting him back into the lineup for an important game against Troy is clutch. Jacquet’s two interceptions are tied for most on the team and he has another three passes defended to add on top of it. As Louisiana push for a Sun Belt championship, it’s critical that Jacquet gets fully back into form after recovering from this injury.
  • Louisiana-Lafayette redshirt sophomore WR Michael Jacquet shifted to slot receiver this spring.
Jacquet will work as the “Y” receiver in new OC Will Hall’s offense. Rajin’ Cajuns HC Mark Hudspeth said of the shift, “It’s still an inside receiver spot, but it’s just a different philosophy. He likes a bigger target there, a longer target, and that’s what Mike Jacquet is.” Jacquet is listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, but the team wanted him to bulk up and he has packed on approximately 15 pounds this offseason to put him up to 195. “At first it was kind of hard to run with it. But now … I feel like myself again. I feel back to my normal speed,” he said. Last season, Jacquet caught 15 passes for 206 yards and a score.
  • Louisiana-Lafayette redshirt sophomore WR Michael Jacquet (foot) did not take part in Saturday’s scrimmage.
Jacquet (6'2/195) is currently nursing a foot bruise. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. He logged a 15-206-1 receiving line as a redshirt freshman during the past season.
  • Louisiana redshirt senior DB Michael Jacquet was held out of Monday’s scrimmage.
He was one of four players who didn’t participate, the most “famous” of these being running back Elijah Mitchell. Jacquet made the move to the defensive side of the football last year, and he picked off two passes with 48 tackles and nine passes defended. He’d be a significant loss for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
  • Louisiana-Lafayette redshirt sophomore WR Michael Jacquet suffered a setback at practice on Wednesday and is questionable to play against Florida State on Saturday.
Jacquet’s was able to play last week against Georgia Southern with the injured ankle, but apparently aggravated the injury on practice on Wednesday. If he’s unable to go, it means more targets for Keenan Barnes, Ja’Marcus Bradley and Rhyheem Malone.
