Raiders traded DT Neil Farrell to the Chiefs for a sixth-round pick.
While the Chiefs wait for a resolution with holdout DT Chris Jones, they went out and acquired Farrell from their division rivals. Farrell was drafted by the Raiders in the fourth round of last year’s draft and appeared in nine games. The former LSU Tiger totaled 12 tackles and one TFL. He could be leaned on as added defensive line depth as long as Jones continues to hold out.

Raiders traded up with the Vikings and selected LSU DT Neil Farrell with the No. 126 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Farrell (6’4/330) spent five seasons with LSU and made a name for himself as a bully in the run game. Farrell posted 26 stops against the run in 2021 per PFF and had a career-high 9.5 tackles for a loss. He won’t impress anyone athletically, with his well-below average 1.41 relative athletic score, but has the size and strength to serve as a two-gapper. His burst off the line shows on tape as does his ability to disengage blockers and make tackles. Farrell is capable of fighting through double teams and can force his way into the backfield with a downhill rush, but he won’t win many plays that require significant lateral movement. He has a chance to develop into an early-down run stopper but will likely need to be pulled on passing downs.
