TCU HC Gary Patterson said that redshirt freshman DE Ochaun Mathis has “got a chance to be one of the more athletic ends we’ve ever had.”
Mathis (6'5/235) appeared in four games while redshirting in 2018, logging three tackles in that space. The former three-star recruit then came out and crushed spring practice. With TCU looking to replace both L.J. Collier and Ben Banogu, the redshirt freshman is a prime candidate to see real work this fall. Adam Plant, Parker Workman and South Carolina grad transfer Shameik Blackshear are a few other names to watch at defensive end come the start of August camp.
