Butler

Butler (6'0"/194) finished 2021 with 61 tackles along with six tackles for loss, one interception, two fumble recoveries, and was named to the second-team All-Sun Belt. He has a ton of speed, as shown with a 4.36 forty, and good physicality. He plays well man coverage, but zone is where he excels best. He is always looking to make a big play, but it can sometimes be a weakness. He’ll sometimes commit too quickly to the tackle and it allows the receiver to elude and gain a big play. He played a lot on special teams, and his physicality made him a great gunner. Butler could easily land himself a spot on special teams, and if he shows improvement with his tackling, he could create more playing time on defense.

Butler is a major loss for the Louisiana secondary. After stepping into a starting role last year, Butler has been one of the defense’s best player. So far in 2020, Butler has racked up 20 tackles and a whopping five passes defended. Considering UAB’s aggressive passing attack, not having Butler could prove huge in this one.
