Aaron Rodgers: It’s just one game, there’s no panic, no freakout

The Packers are off to an 0-1 start and staring at a crucial Week Two game on Thursday night against the Bears, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers says his team isn’t overreacting to one loss.

Rodgers told Deion Sanders in an interview on NFL Network that just because they lost to the 49ers, that doesn’t mean the Packers have anything to be concerned about.

“It’s one game. It’s a new season. We played a good opponent. They beat us,” Rodgers said. “We’re not worried about that. We’re trying to get better every week but there’s no panic in the locker room.”

Sanders asked if Rodgers or other veterans in the Packers’ locker room had called a team meeting to tell everybody to buckle down and get to work, but Rodgers dismissed that.

“No, because that would be a freakout. There’s no freakout going on. We want to play better. We want to win. It’s just one game,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers is correct that the loss to the 49ers is just one game, but that doesn’t mean there are no reasons for concern in Green Bay: Counting the playoffs the Packers have now lost three of their last five games, after having previously won 20 in a row. The Packers might not need to panic or freak out, but they do need to be concerned, especially about their defense.

And if they lose to the Bears on Thursday, falling two games behind in the NFC North, there may be some freakouts in Green Bay.
