With Russell Okung and James Carpenter coming off of injuries, the Seahawks added a little depth at tackle on Tuesday.

The team announced that they have signed Alex Barron, the 19th overall pick of the 2005 draft by the Rams, after a tryout at their rookie minicamp. Barron spent last year on injured reserve with the Saints and last played for the Cowboys in 2010. He started one game that year and his performance was not one to remember. Barron was flagged for holding three times, including on what looked like a game-winning touchdown pass by Tony Romo. He started 74 of the 76 games he played for the Rams between 2005 and 2009.

Barron will be joined in Seattle by three rookie free agents. Tight end Cooper Helfet, cornerback Donny Lisowski and tackle Andrew Mitchel all got contracts after also trying out for the team last weekend.

The Seahawks released cornerback London Durham, linebacker Adrian Moten, tackle Jon Opperud and guard/center Brent Osborne to make room for them on the 90-man roster.
