Once upon a time, the Texans were a good team, and Andre Johnson was a valuable part thereof.
Now?
“We suck,” Johnson said, via Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com. After a pause, he added: “As an offense. That’s pretty much it.”
It’s actually beyond that, as the Texans have lost nine straight, including today’s embarrassing 13-6 decision to the Jaguars.
That had Johnson dispensing brutal truth afterward, when asked if this one made them the worst team in the league.
“I think our record shows it,” he said. “Yeah, if you look at our record, yeah, we’re the worst team.”
That kind of play has Texans fans apoplectic, but Johnson said they deserve to hear it.
“You’re not going to play perfect every single game, but I mean, it’s been bad, you know?” Johnson said. “They were booing us last week. They booed us before. I said it before, if we’re not putting good stuff on the field, we ain’t giving them nothing to cheer about. They booed. They should boo.”
Johnson should too. Quarterback Case Keenum didn’t look his way often (he caught two passes for 36 yards). Part of that wasn’t his fault, as he had little time to look. But Keenum also left Johnson hanging out to dry a few times, putting the veteran receiver in danger more than once.
