ANQUAN PAYS HOMAGE TO EMMITT

Far more entertaining than any portion of the Pro Bowl was a fourth-quarter sideline interview of Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin by NBC’s Tiki Barber. Asked about the outcome of the Super Bowl, Boldin paid homage (unintentionally, we assume) to ESPN’s Emmitt Smith. Said Boldin, “It’s one of those things where you’d rather get blowed out than to lose on the last play like that.” Making the exchange even more intriguing was an attempt by Barber, who dabbles in the polysyllabic, to completely butcher a big word. Meaning to use the term “irreparable” in connection with Boldin’s recent statement that his relationship with the team can’t be fixed, Barber dusted off the time-honored “irrepairable.” It would be a great word if it were, you know, an actual word.
